My last radiation treatment happened today (6 November 2024). It is a great relief to know that I no longer need to go to the hospital every week day and that the 6 weeks of combined chemoradiation therapy is now behind me. Sadly, the effects of the toxic chemotherapy drugs and radiation fatigue do not cease with the end of treatment but will linger for some weeks and possibly months. I must admit that the thought of ongoing nausea does not thrill me but neither the doctors nor I can do much to stop that. We must all wait and see.
A ritual at Prince of Wales is that patients ring a bell to signify that they have reached the end of their treatment. It was my turn to ring the bell today.

I hope you rang it loud and clear. Good luck with the after effects ❤️

I gave it a good whack Lynden and it reverberated a long time. It felt a little weird making the scene, but at the same time, I know what it is like being another patient hearing the bell ring and seeing someone else finish treatment. Treatments end eventually. The radiation technicians are all caring and supportive people (mostly women!) who make the daily visits as comfortable as possible.
