Report from Medical Review Committee

The members of the multi-disciplinary medical review committee met 12 September 2024 and discussed a number of cases, including mine.

The MRC diagnosed me as having Stage IIIB right lower lung adernocarcinoma. Surgery (removal of whole or part of the lung), which is the most common approach in early stages, was ruled out because the active lymph nodes in the middle of my chest are in hard to get at locations, too close to my trachea, bronchus and major blood vessels. The good news is that radio and chemo have a good chance of curative result. Some of the molecular pathology is back and reveals that the cancer has epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) which means that targeted therapy can be used after combo radiation/chemo as additional “clean up”.
