I had a new CT scan on Monday 23 June 2025 and the results were revealed to us at a consult with the radiation oncology team 25 June 2025.
The wonderful news is that the CT scan and radiation oncology consult revealed that there has been no new activity, no progression no growth where the primary tumour was, the affected lymph node has returned to normal size, the inflammation of lung tissues at and around the two treatment sights reduced and should continue to reduce over time. At the end of the consult the verdict was that the “definitive treatment with curative intent” has done a good job and there is “no measurable disease”. All good. “See you in 6 months” was the best news.
Dr Wong, Radiation Oncologist, said that in the first 2 years after treatment, the team likes to monitor at 3 monthly intervals. Rather than 3 monthly tests and consults with both radiation and medical oncology teams, I am now at the stage of staggered 6 monthly checks with each team. This effectively results in the multi-disciplinary team monitoring 3 monthly. For example I had the consult with the radiation team 25 June 2025 and my next radiation consult is now scheduled for January 2026. I have a medical oncology consult scheduled for August 2025 and expect another in 6 months after that. And so it will continue for a while.
