Measure up for radiation treatment

I was measured up for radiation treatment yesterday (12 Sept). Radiation treatments start 23 September, 2024. I will have round 30 radiation treatments, 5 days a week over 6 weeks (23 September – 1 November). I am expecting to have a consult with a medical oncologist (chemotherapy) soon and start a cycle of chemo before the radiation starts. Chemo will be concurrent with radiotherapy. The good news is that radio and chemo have a good chance of curative result. Some of the molecular pathology is back and reveals that the cancer has epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) which means that targeted therapy can be used after combo radiation/chemo as additional “clean up”.

Hopefully I will be over the treatment and side effects in time for Christmas festivities!

Sounds like intense treatment, but with a good outcome which is great.

We can help with anything else too.

Hey Den, thanks for sharing this…the radiation treatment sounds tough, but at least it’ll be over in six weeks. If you need rides to and from the hospital, Danny, Rana, Peter, Dimi and myself can help out…or with anything at all, just give us a yell. (great news about treatment wrapping up by xmas!!) 😘

Thanks Danny, Rana, Peter, Dimi, and Christian. I expect to be ok for the first 3 weeks then I think a pick up after treatment would be good. In the last couple of weeks deliver and pick up might be needed if fatigue is strong. I have added you guys to my transport roster list. Love Den.
