On 28 August 2024 I underwent a fine needle biopsy (aspirate and core) procedure to obtain tissue samples of the cancer. The procedure went well without complications. Local anaesthetic. I was awake throughout the procedure. It left me with some soreness and mild pain. Four hours post procedure observations in clinic. Got home and went sound asleep for 4 hours. Feeling ok now but still terribly tired. Small issue from the procedure = a 2cm pneumo-thorax. No pain or need for pain killers but feeling a bit sore at puncture site. Doctors pretty confident that the pneumo-thorax will heal itself in the next day or so. Seems accurate at this stage. Results identifying the type of cancer will be with the respiratory specialist in 2-3 days. Then a review team at PoW hospital will determine recommended treatment plan. We wait and see. Feeling philosophical and hopeful.
